Our services and how we work
We believe that with our formal quantity surveying experience, we can offer you something slightly different to other companies.
When can we help you?
1. When you're simply thinking about some works to your property - why pay an architect or draughtsman any fees, to simply find out you can't afford to proceed with the project. Let us have a look, we'll give you an idea of ball-park figures and will advise how we best believe you can cut costs. We could even put you in touch with an architect.
2. When you're a little further down the line - when you've had the design done.

How can we help?
In a nutshell:
1. Let us have a copy of your plans and any other information, or else your thoughts if you're at the pre-plan stage - we then sort out measurements and quantities. We will visit site if required but can generally work from photographs and plans, and make use of modern surveying data available.
2. We work out the cost of your build.
3. We provide a report to you advising of what we believe costs are, what costs could be reduced to by making changes, potential areas of the project where costs may increase.
4. In addition, we can provide a work schedule that you can issue to your own selection of builders to ensure that they all price the works with the same inclusion.
5. We can assess YOUR builders costs and provide guidance or recommendations upon this.
6. Alternatively, we can provide you with a selection of builders quotes from reputable companies who we know of and have worked with before, but the ultimate decision is of course yours!
7. We can provide guidance on other trades/suppliers also, if we know of any particularly good deals at any given point.
BASICALLY - Get in touch with us if you're asking yourself any of the following questions:
1. Can I afford an extension?
2. Can I afford a self-build?
3. How much will a house extension cost?
4. How much will a loft conversion cost?
5. How much will a new drive cost?
6. How much will a builder quote?
7. What builder should I use?
8. Is what my builder telling me right?
9. Should work to my house really cost that much?
Also, there's no limit to the scale and size of project that we work on. We recently assisted a customer looking to install a bi-fold door as a replacement of his ageing patio door. He'd had 2 quotes, both what we believed to be excessive. Through our knowledge and supply chain, we were able to advise him the best way of going about getting this done cheaper, but yet by a reputable firm providing him with a warranty. For the small fee that we charged, we were able to save him over £300 on the original 2 prices.

How long does it take?
Not long! Without being hap-hazard, or promising the earth - we can't put an exact time-scale to it - all very much depends on workload - however, we'd like to think we could get our reports back to you within a few working days.
What is the cost for our service?
Unlike some providers - we do charge - but we do feel that we offer a genuinely good service that others don't - and don't simply 'farm out' your project to a number of builders as do some of our competitors (who then make their money by selling the leads to desperate builders - and desperate builders are generally desperate for a reason!). We make our money purely from carrying out the professional service that we're trained to do and believe we're good at!
As can be seen in the 'How can we help?' section above - we have different service offerings.
It is therefore easier to quote each project on a job-by-job basis - but we believe we are one of, if not, THE cheapest service of this kind in the UK.
As an indication, if you have plans drawn and just want an idea on what sort of costs to expect, you'd be looking at somewhere between £35-£50, dependent on the size of the scheme. This would be for a simple side or front/rear extension. Obviously, the bigger and more complex the project, the higher our fee. We will ensure that our fee is fully known to you though before carrying out any work - no nasty surprises later!
Payment can be made by cash, cheque or even online by PayPal (at no cost to you).
Give us a try though - get an idea as to how much we'd charge and what we believe we could save you, we genuinely prefer to quote on a job by job basis - it's not our way of getting you to call but we do like a good chat!
